What does dual vocational training mean in Germany?
In Germany, vocational training is structured differently than in many other countries.
It's called "dual training" because you have two learning locations:
In the workplace – you work practically, learn from professionals and gain real experience.
At vocational school – you learn theory, specialist knowledge, and everything else you need for your career. You need a call.
This is how you will become a professional in your field, step by step.
During this time, you work at a company, attend school, and even receive a monthly salary. At the end, you'll have a recognized qualification, professional experience, and excellent chances of being hired permanently.
Duration and procedure
An apprenticeship typically lasts
2 to 3.5 years – depending on profession and school qualifications.
During this time, practice and theory alternate.
Finally, you take an exam at an official chamber (e.g., Chamber of Skilled Crafts or Chamber of Industry and Commerce).
What apprenticeship can I pursue?
In Germany there are over 300 recognized training occupations – from technology to health to gastronomy.
Together we will find the job that truly suits you.
In the following areas you have particularly good chances of getting an apprenticeship and then being hired: nursing & health, crafts & technology, and logistics & production.
Of course, there are also exciting opportunities in many other industries, depending on your interests and strengths.
Whether you enjoy working with people, creating things with your hands, or organizing processes – we'll find your way.
